The history of Underwood can be traced back to 1926, when Edgardo Rustioni, the company founder, first qualified as an "Artigano Pellettiere", a leather craftsman in the age-old tradition of Italian leather craftmanship.
In the beginning, the company specialised in handcrafted leather goods, producing leather desk accessories, jewellery boxes and a variety of gift items in leather, all in the traditional style of Firenze. However in the 1990s, the decision was taken to re-design the Underwood line and to extend the collection to include the unique and innovative "Underwood Modular Winding System”, a modular system of watch winders specifically designed with the needs of the watch collector in mind.
The Underwood modular winding system applies the principles of advanced design and engineering to keep automatic watches wound when they are not being worn. The Underwood collection has watch winders for a single watch up to 100 watches, so as your watch collection grows, your watches can be wound and ready to wear at a moment's notice, without winding or resetting the date, ready to travel, or ready to go into the safe for a year or more, until the next special occasion.
Each Underwood module operates on AC or battery power, and each multiple winding box comes with an extra single leather carrying case. You can build your system as your collection grows, as each single unit works independently even when housed in one of the Underwood multiple-unit boxes.
