Watches of Switzerland’s relationship with IWC has been exceptionally long-standing and fruitful. Our Chairman and Founder, Eric van der Griend, was the original distributor for IWC in Australia up until Richemont purchased the brand in 2000. Likewise, our very first store in Perth was an authorised IWC retailer, and we have been proud to continue to partner with the brand here in Australia for the last twenty years. Throughout that time, we have had the privilege of introducing the brand to numerous new clients, hosting a wide variety of events and exhibitions making a significant contribution to IWC’s ever growing popularity in Australia.
Presented in a 43mm, stainless steel case, the Watches of Switzerland 20th Anniversary IWC Pilots Chronograph Limited Edition pairs a black dial with patina coloured Superluminova-coated hands and indices to create a vintage-inspired look. Hours and minutes are indicated centrally, with small seconds shown on the sub-dial at 9 o’clock and the day and date displayed through two windows at 3 o’clock. The sub-dials at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively display 30-minute and 12-hour counters for the chronograph, with a central hand in white for the chronograph seconds. Eagle-eyed enthusiasts will also note that the small-seconds hand is now in white, instead of the usual red.
Inside is the robust IWC 79320 Calibre, a self-winding chronograph movement beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph and offering a max power reserve of 44 hours. It’s protected against the effects of magnetism by IWC’s patented soft-iron inner case and is hidden away beneath a specially engraved, commemorative caseback, which includes the watch’s number in the limited series. Completing the design is a brown calf leather strap crafted by Santoni, which closes with a tang buckle for maximum comfort on your wrist.
