Rolex Yacht-Master Everose Gold

Rolex does it again with the brand new Yacht-Master Everose Gold.

One of the most talked about releases so far this year at Baselworld has been the new Rolex Yacht-Master in solid Everose gold (Rose Gold). When we think about watches that are designed to be worn in the water, we don’t necessarily think about gold, however, this time it’s an exception. This case is absolutely gorgeous. Stemming from that of a Submariner case, the Yacht-Master is nothing short of a sports-watch and this is amplified by the ‘Oysterflex’ bracelet (we’ll come back to that) fitted to the case. The new Cerachrom insert, finished in black ceramic, is fitted to the rotatable bezel and is true to the Yacht-Master’s identity. The clear definition between the matte finish ceramic bezel, and the high polish ceramic numerals allows the wearer to read elapsed times (up to 60 minutes) clearly under water or out of water. Another first for this model is the matching black dial, which gives a clear definition between the Everose gold hours, minutes and sweeping seconds hands. In addition to these luxurious features, the luminous markers will glow a bright blue colour which allows you to clearly read the time in the dark, or under water.

This model is available in either a 40mm case or a 37mm diameter case. The 40mm case houses the Calibre 3135 movement, whilst the smaller model is powered by the Calibre 2236. Both these self-winding mechanical movements are manufactured by Rolex.

The new ‘Oysterflex’ bracelet is something to be marvelled at as well, because from the outside it is not all it seems. Aesthetically and in comfort, it certainly resembles a rubber strap while its resistance can be compared to a metal bracelet. Here is how Rolex explains it; “The bracelet attaches to the watch case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by a flexible titanium and nickel alloy metal blade. The blade is over moulded with high-performance black elastomer, which is particularly resistant to environmental effects, very durable and perfectly inert for the wearer of the watch”. So basically, the bracelet has a titanium and alloy metal blade inside of the rubber to ensure the case and clasp are completely paired to it. On the under-side of the bracelet, there is a cushion system developed to certify the stability of the watch when on the wrist. This is a testament to the innovation of Rolex, because it is always the little things that keep you coming back for more.
