Watches of Switzerland and Baume et Mercier Sydney Event.
When we heard that Baume and Mercier were releasing a Capeland watch to honour Carroll Shelby, we were excited – to say the least! We believe watches and cars go hand-in-hand, mainly for the unbelievable amount of mechanical engineer that goes into developing them. However, this is more about the aesthetics then the inside of the watch.

In our previous article (which you can read here) about the Capeland Carroll Shelby watch we explained the ties that bind the two brands together and that is what our exclusive cocktail event in the Sydney Boutique was all about.
The day started with a press lunch at Pei Modern at the Four Seasons hotel where the Sydney manager Delwyn and I, along with some of Australia’s best press, were treated to a fantastic spread of food and an exclusive first look at the two new watches in question. Along with the fine wine, food and watches were a group of gentlemen who were representing the Cobra Club NSW chapter.
Felix Scholz of Time+Tide Australia and I, were incredibly lucky to pick the brain of these impressive men who encapsulated us with stories of how they came to own their cars. Funnily enough one of the men, Mr Phillip Lynn who is the treasurer of the Cobra Club actually use to work for Willis and Sons. Willis and Sons were a jewellery wholesaler who imported many Swiss brands including Rolex. Safe to say, Mr Lynn appreciated the watch not only for its aesthetical ties to Carroll Shelby but the quality of the Capeland.

Once the lunch had concluded, it was time to start preparing for our exclusive in-store cocktail party. It began when all the men left in their unbelievably loud Cobras and then another arrived. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful Cobra parked out the front of the store for the duration of our event, the amount of people who stopped to admire amazed us all. It was a successful night with two sales on the spot and many orders for more. The limited (to 98 pieces) 18ct red gold version was sold to a gentleman who actually collects vintage cars, including the cobra and had close ties to the Cobra Club in Sydney.

We are incredibly pleased with the support shown by our clients in Sydney and the Baume and Mercier Brand Manager Jean Conrie. We thank Jean and Sophie from Baume and Mercier for a fantastic night.
