The Portugieser Automatic is without doubt one of, if not the most successful Portugieser models ever.
Retaining the balanced dial design of the original Portugieser first manufactured in the 1930s, it incorporates a number of modern touches.
These include a 42.3mm case with ergonomically optimized strap horns to ensure greater comfort even on slimmer wrists. Elegant golden hands and appliqués. And of course, the self-winding IWC-manufactured 52010-calibre, visible through a transparent sapphire-glass case back. This movement is equipped with the legendary Pellaton winding system, whose pawls, automatic wheel and rotor bearing in system are made from extremely wear-resistant ceramic. Two barrels build up an impressive 7-day power reserve, which can be monitored via the power reserve indicator on the dial side at 3 o’clock.
An ageless classic, this watch comes on a black alligator leather strap.
The highly efficient winding system is a refined version of the 50000-calibre family with a bidirectional Pellaton pawl-winding system. Two barrels provide an impressive 7 days’ power reserve.
The winding pawls and the automatic wheel are made of black ceramic while the rotor bearing is made of white ceramic. These extremely hard high-tech materials make the automatic winding system practically wear-free. The indexless balance with a frequency of 4 hertz (28,800 beats per hour) and the Breguet spring guarantee maximum precision. The design and finish of the movement was also considerably enhanced. The proportions of the rotor and the inset “Probus Scafusia” gold medallion are noticeably slimmer.
