Frequently asked questions

How do I know the Pre-Owned watch I’m buying is genuine?

All watches retailed by Watches of Switzerland Pre-owned come with a 12-month limited warranty, guaranteeing their condition and authenticity.

Before any timepiece is taken in by Watches of Switzerland Pre-owned, it must first pass a rigorous assessment performed by our team of qualified watchmakers (who have a combined experience of more than 65 years). This assessment involves evaluating the condition of the watch and verifying the authenticity of all its components (bracelet, case, movement). To make this authentication process even more robust, watches are typically only accepted into the Watches of Switzerland Pre-owned program if they are accompanied by their original box and papers (service papers also admissible). Watches of Switzerland Pre-owned will never retail a timepiece if there are any doubts or concerns about its authenticity, either in full or in part.

How do you grade the condition of the Pre-Owned watches you offer?

Watches of Switzerland Pre-owned makes use of a grading system for a brief and general description of condition, however, accurate conditions can vary greatly on a case-by-case basis depending on the type and era of timepiece. Every effort is made, however, to be as accurate and concise as possible in describing a pre-owned watch’s condition.

Watches of Switzerland Pre-owned will facilitate the service through the proper channels if any warranty related issues arise throughout the remainder of the warranty period. I have a watch I would like to sell. What is the process?

Customers are most welcome to bring any timepiece/s and all relevant documentation and or paraphernalia – such as box, papers, proof of purchase – to one of our boutiques, where our staff will facilitate the process of sending your timepiece off to our service centre for assessment. As part of this inspection process, the watch case back will be opened for close examination. This assessment process takes approximately 48 hours to complete after which, if successful, a trade-in quote will be provided.

Should the trade-in not proceed the Service Centre will reseal, and pressure test your timepiece, free of charge. Once completed, you will be able to collect your watch from the original Watches of Switzerland Boutique you submitted it through.
