The Overseas collection, reinvented in 2016, conveys the spirit of travel. This openness to the world, inherited from François Constantin, has remained at the core of the Maison’s philosophy ever since its founding. Designed in a spirit of casual elegance and comfort enhanced by their interchangeable strap/bracelet system, Overseas timepieces are the perfect daily companions.
In constant pursuit of innovation, Vacheron Constantin anticipated the emergence of sports watches at the end of the 19th century. It was several decades later, however, in the 1970s that this trend truly solidified with the birth of the famous reference “222”. Launched in 1977 in honor of the 222nd anniversary of Vacheron Constantin, the watch featured the aesthetic and technical attributes of sports watches and a guaranteed water resistance of up to 120 meters. Since then, this piece, with its radically assertive codes, has never stopped evolving. In 2016, the Overseas collection was reinvented to embark on the discovery of new horizons.
In the spirit of travel, this new generation of timepieces frees itself from excess, keeping only the essential. Comfort, ergonomics and ease of use make this watch a practical and unique piece, ready to satisfy every requirement. Self-winding mechanical movements, a generous power reserve, a soft iron carriage protecting against magnetic disturbances, perfect water resistance of 5 to 15 bar… these calibers also boast remarkable reliability and durability. Dedicated to travelers from all walks of life, the collection takes a unique look at the world.
Every trip carries with it the unexpected, which should be considered boldly. This is the daily challenge of pieces that easily lend themselves to the game of adaptability. Each Overseas comes with additional bracelets or straps – steel or precious metal, leather and rubber – interchangeable at will thanks to an ingenious patented device to attach bracelets and folding clasps in seconds. Whether you’re exploring the outer reaches of the Ural mountains or strolling along New York City’s largest avenues, all that matters is the extraordinary pleasure of sporting the right timepiece in every circumstance.
The lines are timeless yet contemporary, standing out among the rest. With a hexagonal bezel evoking the Maltese cross, a fluted crown, polished and satin finishes, and a translucent lacquered dial with faceted and luminescent gold hour markers and hands, total harmony comes at any latitude. The height of relaxed elegance, the sapphire-crystal-topped case back reveals a 22-carat gold oscillating weight adorned with a compass rose, a symbol of travel and exploration.
