This year, one of the most iconic watch collections on the planet is marking its 75th anniversary. Worn with pride by royals and sports stars alike, not to mention a certain debonaire secret agent, the Omega Seamaster has become the go-to for style-conscious watch lovers that don’t want to compromise on functionality or pedigree. As part of the celebrations, the brand is introducing a range of anniversary models, including the super cool Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in Summer Blue. This 42 mm Seamaster Diver 300M in stainless steel, available on a matching bracelet or blue rubber strap, is a worthy addition to OMEGA’s classic dive watch collection.

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in Summer Blue

At first glance, the new anniversary edition looks similar to other models in the Seamaster line-up, which is very much intentional. Not only is the profile of the Seamaster 300M Diver instantly recognizable on the wrist, but it’s also been refined over decades to make it the premium, professional-grade dive watch that is today admired the world over. You don’t mess with the classics, as they say. That means a 42mm diameter case in stainless steel showing brushed and polished finishes and measuring a comfortable 13.5mm thick. A screw-down crown at 3 o’clock, along with the helium escape valve attests to its credentials as a legitimate dive watch (rated to 300m), as does the unidirectional rotating bezel.

In keeping with its commemorative cousins, it has a Summer Blue wave-pattern ceramic dial, varnished with a gradient finish to reflect its water resistance.

All that said, there are some subtle – and not-so-subtle – differences that set this anniversary model apart. For example, the diving scale on the polished ceramic bezel insert has been filled in with light blue Grand Feu enamel, to eye-catching effect. This lovely light blue accent is picked up on the dial as well, with the applied indices and skeleton hands all being treated with a light blue Super-LumiNova in a similar hue to the Grand Feu enamel on the bezel. The perfect contrast for the sunray-brushed gradient Summer Blue varnished finish of the classic wave patterned dial. At six o’clock the date appears on a colour-matched wheel.

To complement this colour, OMEGA has filled the rhodium-plated hands and indexes with a unique light blue Super-LumiNova.

Behind the dial is Omega’s famed Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8800, officially certified by METAS. Beating at a steady 25,200 vph, this self-winding movement is capable of storing up to 55 hours of power reserve. And although you can’t see it behind the special 75th-anniversary solid case back – more on that in a moment – the movement still features a number of nice finishing touches, including rhodium-plated rotor and bridges with Geneva waves in Arabesque, as well as blackened screws, barrel and balance wheel. The final 75th-anniversary touch is the engraving on the solid caseback, which depicts Poseidon, the Greek god of the ocean, with a pair of seahorses.
